As we pass through different phases in life, judgements dwindle while empathy rises. It is no longer possible to encourage people with mere words of motivation wihtout testimony or compassion.
My friend was sharing with me about how her husband dreads the thought of going to work. He walks up every morning, dragging himself to office to fulfill another day of duty and obligation. Yet, all these are nothing but mere actions. How long can the sense of responsibility drive him to work? Without passion, life becomes meaningless.
My friend is an achieved woman. Yet, deep down, she wonders if she would ever find a soulmate, with whom she can walk through the rest of her life with. Every weekend and festive season is a dread to her. The loneliness of the night coupled with the emptiness of her soul lures her into depression.
Growing up, these feelings are no longer foreign to me. Sometimes, the montony of life really drives you nuts and you really do feel that to die is gain and to live is Christ. What the Lord has to say about this is that, "Deora, life is short, you never know what will happen to you tomorrow. Don't waste your youth, your healthy days away." I know the Lord is calling me to training - cultivation of spiritual disciplines. Irregardless of how i feel, i have to move on, doing constructive things with my time. If one of my precious is my time, i will give it to counselling those who are in need. In a world where sin is present, the wounded are everywhere. there are many sea shells on the shore but to that one, i encourage, i made a difference. Just as how Jo has made a difference in my life, i want to make a difference in people's lives. God, give me a heart that can feel the way you feel, a mind that can fathom the deep. To those whom you give to me, give me passion. Not our of responsibility but passion.
